  • I love this church! I moved away and miss it so much.

  • This church is thoroughly Bible-based. Worship is Jesus-centered. My wife and I have been attending for 12 years at the time of writing, and we love it; it is our family! And like any family, it also has its problems and shortcomings; we are all imperfect people and make mistakes (pastors included), but we are doing our best to pursue Jesus together through genuine love and community. I would recommend anyone looking for a good, healthy church attend here.

If you crave a more "traditional-style" approach to Sunday services, you might want to look elsewhere. There are many other good, local churches that fit that bill, too!

  • Vine has been our church home for 7 years now. We absolutely love it here. The gospel is clearly and relevantly taught. The kids program is phenomenal. Small group members have become our second family. We love the diversity within the church. There's no place we'd rather be!

  • There were a group of young christians who always came to the northeast side of Carbondale to pray for my mom, my aunt and other elderly people on the block. The would pray for her and always brought a food basket for even when she insisted she didn't need it . One young lady was working at the hospital when my mom was brought in with a broken hip. She recognize my mom's voice and went to be with her to pray with her she called another young lady who she knew had my phone number to let me know that my mom had been brought in it even before the hospital,. This is a wonderful group of people and whenever I'm in town I try to worship with them

I agree with Don Morris. This church isn't a 'Jesus-Centered ' church, it's a massive money making amusement park. It's an offshoot of the chain churches "Grapevine." It's more interested in attracting large crowds of college kids then actual adults.
The more attractive you make it seem, the more money you'll rake in.
And the pastor has never been to seminary college, so don't ask him too tough of a question.
The moment you walk in you'll see how much money they spent on attracting young kids.
This isn't a family church, it's one of a handful of teen care amusement parks in the area.
If the pastor doesn't know your name, then it isn't a family Christian Church.

My family attended Vine Church when we moved to the area. I was mature enough to overlook it when they told me that I was not a good Christian because I didn't raise my hands while singing (postures of worship). They could not overlook the fact that I express myself in worship by quietly harmonizing. They sent an elder to listen to me, and after sitting by my family for 2 weeks (he had to sit close to hear me) he proclaimed that my singing was "disturbing others." He gave me two choices - take singing lessons he offered (no joke) or leave. I chose to leave.

God looks at a person's heart. Vine Church is enamored by a person's outside appearance. Please be very cautious about this church. If you fit their Jock/Cheerleader mold, you will fit right in. If you don't fit right in, they will have no tolerance for you - and this is even if you agree with their doctrinal teachings on the Bible. Is this really what you think Christianity is about? If so, you'll love it there!

If you are from the Vine and feel this review is unfair, feel free to contact me.
